Right Hope

Right Hope

Today we learned about having the right hope. Deacon delved into the importance of having the right type of hope, even when it feels hopeless. He talks about the children of Israel and hopes they went through so much. They complained to God; we complain, but having hope and hope in the Lord is essential.

His topic was called: Right Hope

When the world feels completely dark, finding the right kind of hope isn’t about ignoring the reality of your situation—it is about choosing to believe that the current chapter isn’t the end of your story.

Here are a few perspectives on anchoring yourself to the right hope when things seem hopeless:

  • Hope as a Strategy, Not a Wish: True hope is not a passive wish for things to get better; it is an active, stubborn refusal to let today’s despair dictate tomorrow’s possibilities.

  • Finding the Micro-Light: When you cannot see the grand light at the end of the tunnel, the right hope focuses entirely on the next single step right in front of you.

  • An Anchor in the Storm: Having the right hope means understanding that while you cannot always control the wind or the waves, you can choose where to anchor your mind—not in what was lost, but in your capacity to endure and rebuild.

  • The Power of “Yet”: Genuine hope redefines hopelessness by introducing a tiny, powerful word to your vocabulary: “I don’t see a way out… yet.”

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”

Desmond Tutu

Deacon Grant spoke about writing things down, as the prophet was advised to do. Write the vision so that you can see it plainly.

Let your vision be plain, putting your trust in the Lord, having the belief and hope in a God we can trust. He will never leave us, nor will he forsake us.
