About Mt. Zion

We are the Mt. Zion Sanctuary Assembly Church of God 7th Day Inc. Our goal here is to provide a spectrum to all our visiting guests and brethren, to increase their knowledge in the Lord Jesus Christ and the Heavenly Father.

In 2003, this vision became a reality, when the Lord enabled us to acquire our current property, located right here in the center of Spring Valley. The acquisition of this piece of property was nothing short of a miracle. The Lord provided for us in ways that were simply astounding. Although we encountered many challenges, God always granted deliverance and made provision. With a strong sense of commitment, the saints contributed willing to the work of God. By the end of 2006, our property was paid for in full.

After assembling at this location for a while, we saw the need to expand, as the space that we occupied then was relatively small. We explored the option of renovating the old building in order to create more space. However, God had something quite different in mind. In due time, God sent us a very skillful builder, who arrived with a passion and an unshakeable determination to build a sanctuary unto the Lord. Of course, I speak of none other than Brother Christopher Haynes, who joined us in 2004.

The Mt. Zion Story

It gives me great joy to share with you a brief history of the Mt. Zion Sanctuary of Rockland County.  I must also add that our history is one that is characterized by tremendous courage, unwavering faith, and, of course, divine intervention. (Pastor Dolphy Morrison – deceased)

This work was commenced in 1987, when the late Evangelist S. Dunn embarked on the mission field, determined to harvest souls in the Village of Spring Valley. Upon her arrival in Spring Valley, she was received by the Nugent’s family, who also had a strong desire to fellowship and reunite with the saints from Jamaica. These pioneers were soon joined by Pastor Morrison and family, as well as other saints who had been dispersed throughout the New York/New Jersey area. It was in this manner that the work was launched in Spring Valley, New York.

The commencement and progress of this work can be regarded in some ways as a replication of the early church, as described in the book of Acts. We had very humble beginnings. Our first place of worship was actually a single bedroom – a room that served as a sanctuary by day and was reconverted to a bedroom at night! However, we had the conviction that we were being divinely led by the guiding hand of the Almighty, and wherever He led us, we would follow.
